Sermon Outline

Wisdom & Knowledge (Proverbs 1:1-7)

Two main points:

  1. The desire for wisdom and knowledge v 1-6 (the main part unpack insights, prudence, right, just and fair; etc and the difference between wisdom and knowledge)

  2. How to get this Wisdom – v7

Two things from the text:

  • Firstly, it is only the beginning of knowledge
  • Secondly, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge and not just wisdom!
  • Proverbs 9:10 mentions that “the fear of the Lord is beginning of wisdom and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight”.

Knowlege and wisdom are tied together; you can’t have wisdom without knowledge nor can you have knowledge of God and not gradually obtained to wisdom.
