ESCCC

About Us

Our Timeline

1980-PRESENT

ESCCC was formed in 1980 by a group of theological students driven by the vision “to train and to send.” We held our first worship service in rented premises at the Randwick Uniting Church.

In 1986, the church became a branch church of the Chinese Christian Church at Milson’s point (CCC).

We became an independent, non-denominational church in 1998 although we continue to maintain close ties with CCC.

Until 2014, our services were held at a number of locations, including at St John’s Church in Maroubra and Matraville Baptist Church.

Through the grace of God and financial support of both current and many former members, the church acquired its current premises at Soudan Street in February 2014.

Whilst the initial ministry focus was on overseas students and newly arrived migrants, today our current aim is to reach out to the local community.

We currently have over 140 active members from many walks of life, cultures and age groups.

What We Believe

Our church believes and teaches the following doctrines based solely on the Holy Scripture (the 39 books of the Old Testament and the 27 books of the New Testament).

About Jesus and God

We believe that Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Son of God, was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.
We believe in the unity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in the Godhead.
We believe in the sovereignty of God in creation, revelation, redemption and the final judgment.
We believe in the personal and visible return of Jesus Christ in His Glory at God’s appointed time. We believe that the full consummation of the Kingdom of God awaits His return.

About Jesus’ Sacrifice

We believe that redemption from the guilt, penalty and power of sin is only through the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God, as our representative and substitute.
We believe that in His resurrection, God’s acceptance of His atoning death was demonstrated.

About the Bible

We believe in the divine
inspiration and infallibility of the Holy Scripture, as originally given, and its supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

About the Holy Spirit

We believe in the necessity of the work of the Holy Spirit to make the death of Christ effective in the individual sinner, granting the person repentance toward God and faith in Jesus Christ. We believe in the indwelling and work of the Holy Spirit in the believer.

About The Resurrection

We believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead and His ascension to the right hand of the throne of God, the Father; and subsequently the bodily resurrection of all believers at God’s appointed time.

About People and Sin

We believe that all people are made in the image of God and for fellowship with Him. We believe that the universal sinfulness of human nature since the Fall rendered all subject to God’s wrath, condemnation and penalty of sin.

About God’s Grace and Reconciliation to Him

We believe that the sinner is reconciled and justified to God, not through any personal merit but solely on the basis of God’s grace received through faith in Jesus Christ.

About God’s Church

We believe in the one holy universal church which is the Body of Christ, comprised of all those who acknowledge Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord.
